The FDAIU is a retrofit solution designed to replace obsolete ARINC 542A Flight Data Recorders. It converts analog inputs into an ARINC 717 digital output, enabling operators to upgrade to modern FDR or CVFDR systems without modifying the aircraft.

The unit is designed to match the physical envelope of legacy ARINC 542A recorders, allowing it to be mounted in the same location with no structural changes. It also supports existing pitot-static pneumatic inputs and provides a direct form, fit, and function replacement.

The FDAIU outputs ARINC 717 data for modern recorders and optionally supports ARINC 429 output to increase aircraft parameter utilization.
